8th Annual IGC Meeting in Brussels

On 13 October 2010 in Brussels (Kingdom of Belgium) there will be held the Eighth Annual Meeting (Conference) of the Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) TRACECA.

The meeting will be attended by the official representatives of the Governments of the Parties to the «Basic Multilateral Agreement on International Transport for Development of the Europe-the Caucasus-Asia Corridor» (MLA), the Permanent Representatives (National Secretaries) of the Permanent Secretariat (PS) of the IGC TRACECA in the MLA member states, the Permanent observer of the Republic of Lithuania in the IGC TRACECA,  representatives of the European Commission, team leaders of TRACECA projects and representatives of international organizations.

The meeting will discuss the following issues: the activities on the development of the international transport corridor TRACECA during the presidency of the Kyrgyz Republic in the IGC TRACECA, the process of realization by the MLA member-states of the Action Plan in 2008-2009 for the implementation of the Strategy of the IGC TRACECA for development of the international transport corridor “Europe-the Caucasus-Asia” for the period up to 2015, increasing the competitiveness and attractiveness of the TRACECA  road routes, further prospects of TRACECA development, reform of the PS IGC TRACECA, adoption of the Concept of Reform of the PS IGC TRACECA and the Statute of the PS IGC TRACECA.    

Within the framework of the meeting there will be made a presentation of the results of the PS IGC TRACECA and interim results of the IDEA Project’s activities regarding the creation of TRACECA Database (GIS), transport model and a new TRACECA web-site.

In the course of the meeting it is intended to approve the document of the PS IGC TRACECA “Current Analysis and Recommended Actions of the PS IGC TRACECA with a view to increase the Competitiveness of the TRACECA Corridor” as well as the “Concept of Development of International Road Traffic along the Transport Corridor Europe-the Caucasus-Asia”.  

At the meeting the Kyrgyz Republic will hand over  the chairmanship in the IGC TRACECA to the Republic of Moldova and the MLA member-states will elect a new Secretary General of the PS IGC TRACECA.

On the outcomes of the meeting it is planned to sign the Final Resolutions of the Eighth Annual Meeting (Conference) of the IGC TRACECA and to adopt the Brussels Declaration
