The bridge over the gorge of Zamarlu was constructed in 1898, and is the biggest bridge constructed in the Russian Empire. Its length exceeds 253,15 meters and the height - 44 meters. The new bridge was constructed right next to the bridge of Zamarlu, and will be the one to be exploited by the Railway. It is noteworthy that all the construction works were realized without changing the external look of the old bridge, which has ensured the maintenance of the historical significance of the strong and reliable new bridge. After the reconstruction the length of the new routes of Zamarlu are 169,5 meters, and the height is 44 meters.

The bridge of Zamarlu has been under reconstruction in the framework of the investment program by the “South Caucasus Railway” CJSC since 2010. The design of the bridge was implemented by the company “Transproject”, and the construction was realized by “BridgeConstruct” CJSC. More than 250.000 USD has been allocated from the State Budget for the realization of the works.
