Strengthening the transport dialogue between the public and private sectors is the key to the successful development of the entire industry

The purpose of this event was to bring together representatives of the public sector, international organizations and private business on one platform to discuss important aspects of cooperation in the field of transport.
 
The meeting was attended by heads of ministries and departments, the largest public and private transport companies, embassies, international and regional organizations, including TRACECA.
 
At the opening session, a welcoming speech was made by Mr. Ramatov A.Zh., Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Mr. Makhkamov I.R., Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

During the panel sessions, the participants made presentations on the experience of implementing large transport and infrastructure projects as the main principle of economic growth, as well as the development of interconnectedness in all sectors of transport.

During his speech, the Secretary General of the PS IGC TRACECA, Mr Assavbayev A.A. shared with the meeting participants the main activities of the Permanent Secretariat and underlined the significance of consolidation and coordination of efforts in ensuring regional transport connectivity.

The Secretary General noted that “… today, almost all countries in the region have done a great job in building infrastructure at the national level. The available capacities and throughput of transport facilities require further work to improve the efficiency of their use and attract freight traffic to obtain maximum benefits”.

In addition, the participants of the event were invited to take part in business meetings in order to establish contacts and expand cooperation.

During the visit, an exchange of views took place between Secretary General Assavbayev A.A. and the Ministers of Transport of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic on the further implementation of TRACECA priority projects and initiatives.
