On June 06, 2023, the Secretary General of the Permanent Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Commission TRACECA (PS IGC TRACECA), Mr. Asset Assavbayev, met with the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, Mr. Kubanychbek Omuraliev.
In the focus of the discussions were the measures to eliminate bottlenecks in the corridors and increasing transit potential in the region.
The sides paid special attention to the digitalization, containerization, introduction of electronic transport documents, including the possibility of using blockchain technology, improving the efficiency of shipping lines, simplifying border crossing procedures and etc.
The participants of meeting confirmed the special importance of supporting ongoing projects and initiatives aimed at developing transport along the transport and transit corridors of the TRACECA and OTS region.
It should be noted that the first round of negotiations between TRACECA and OTS took place on May 12, 2023 during the visit of the TRACECA Secretary General to Istanbul.
