Seminar on offshore units regulations

The European Union (EU) funded TRACECA Maritime Safety and Security II Project within its activities 4 organized a Seminar on Offshore Units Regulations.

This Seminar was organized in Baku, Azerbaijan, from Wednesday 30 March to Thursday 31 March 2016.

The presentations of the speakers and discussions were focused on the legislation for Offshore Units and its impacts.

The following issues were discussed within the seminar:

- Coastal State obligations vis-a-vis MODU working in their waters

-Guidelines for Port State Control of MODUs

- Overview of the MODU code 2009

- Impact of IADC

- Impact of IMCA

- Implementation of international regulations or recommendations for MODU (ISM Code)

- Implementation of international regulations or recommendations for MODU (ISPS Code)

- Comparison ISM/ISPS Training of personnel on MODU (STCW and IMO circular 1079)

- Casualty investigations and "Deepwater Horizon" case / discussion

- Prevention and response to pollution from offshore activities

- Risk assessment and escape routes on a MODU
