Regional training on STCW (training standards for seafarers)

The European Union (EU) funded TRACECA Maritime Safety and Security II Project within its activities 5 organized a Regional training on STCW.

This Training was organized in Chisinau, Moldova, from Tuesday 9 February to Wednesday 10 February 2016.

The presentations of the speakers and discussions were focused on the obligations of Parties to the Convention to ensure compliance with its requirements in terms of certification of seafarers, competencies assessment, investigation of reported failures, withdrawal of certificates.

The following issues were discussed within the training:

- Introduction to the STCW Convention

- National obligations

- International obligations

- Assessments in accordance with Directive 2008/106/EC Article 19

- Evaluation and assessments

- National implementation
