Recent updates on the measures taken by TRACECA countries due to COVID 19

The below results of the measures taken show that coordinated action is being taken in most of the corridor countries. Thus, 9 out of 10 countries have ensured equal conditions for drivers, regardless of the country of vehicle registration or nationality of the driver.

At the same time, various measures are being taken to limit the activities of border checkpoints. Despite the fact that 53% of the countries have identified a list of functioning border crossing points, not all countries have established “green corridors” nor prepared detailed maps showing the location of border crossing points. It is important to note that 38% of the countries did not apply restrictive measures.

Most countries have ensured the 24/7 operation of checkpoints. At the same time, in most checkpoints, the clearance procedures take the time established by the legislation or the time for carrying out checks is slightly increased.
38% of the countries have adopted measures to reduce and streamline border crossing procedures, while 46% of the countries are implementing additional sanitation measures.

The remote health check of drivers, which lasts about 1 minute (61%) had a positive effect. 38% of the MLA participating countries, in case of detecting the signs of the disease, provide medical services. In addition, 76% of the countries, which is the largest indicator of harmonization of the measures taken, do not carry out other checks of documents and goods at the border.

On the other hand, despite the best practice applied in the European Union, 38% of the countries do not envisage the adoption of a temporary relaxation of the requirements for road transport.

Overall, 69% of the countries have ensured sanitary conditions along the main transport corridors, which had a positive impact on international cargo transport.
