Project Second Steering Committee meeting within the EU-funded TRACECA Maritime Safety II and Security

The Second Steering Committee meeting of the European Union (EU) funded TRACECA Maritime Safety and Security II Project took place in Kiev (Ukraine) on January 27th, 2016. 

The Steering Committee was delivered jointly by the Project office of NTU Consortium (composed of NTU International A/S, Egis International and Egis Ukraina) and the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA). The Project outcomes and the extended program of the Project activities in the Beneficiary countries were presented. The meeting brought together officials from maritime and port administrations of the partner countries of the TRACECA Maritime Safety and Security II Project. It offered the opportunity to discuss the project's achievements and way forward, and presented the activities of EMSA. Partners presented progress achieved in the implementation of the project's objectives, namely to make shipping safer, more secure and environment friendly. The meeting was also an opportunity to present the participants with perspectives on improving the human resources management performance within existing limited resources.

It followed up on the first Project's Steering Committee Meeting which was also jointly organised by the EMSA and the NTU Consortium. The meeting was held in Turkey (Istanbul) and took place in January 2015.

The Project itself was initially launched by the European Commission in January 2013 for a duration of three years and has recently been extended until June 2016. 

During its lifetime the Project has delivered:

- 26 missions to beneficiary countries (bilateral and multilateral meetings)

- 5 Project presentations at international and regional events

- 17 regional and national workshops, seminars and trainings

- 11 grants to the ILO International Training Centre in Turin, Italy

- 3 Mock audits to beneficiary countries

The overall number of the Project events attendees is more than 500.
