On 8th of April, 2011 at the Residence of H.E. the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Toyly Komekov, the visit of Mr. Eduard Biriucov, TRACECA Secretary General was held

The Parties noted the key role Turkmenistan plays in the international transport corridor and the TRACECA activities, in connection with which the possibility of Turkmenistan's participation in the Basic Multilateral Agreement (MLA) TRACECA as a full member was highlighted. Full participation of Turkmenistan in TRACECA will more effectively promote economic relations, trade and transport links of this country with the countries of Europe, the Black Sea, Caucasus, Caspian Sea and Asia. It will also help Turkmenistan to take practical steps towards revival of the Silk Road and enhance own status as a major transport hub in the region.

The Parties also exchanged views on the prospects for development of the corridor, further improvement of the institutional structures of the IGC TRACECA, as well as the implementation of the Strategy of the IGC TRACECA for the development of the international transport corridor.
