On June 11, 2024, a Meeting of the Permanent Representatives (National Secretaries) of the PS IGC TRACECA was held in Tbilisi

The meeting was attended by the Permanent Representatives (National Secretaries) of the Permanent Secretariat of the IGC TRACECA and experts in the MLA member countries, representatives of the Georgian Party chairing the IGC, as well as the team of the Permanent Secretariat of the IGC TRACECA.

As part of the opening of the meeting, the Secretary General of the PS IGC TRACECA, Mr. A.A. Assavbayev, expressed sincere gratitude to the Georgian Party for the assistance and support in holding the Meeting.

In his speech, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mr. G. Guramishvili welcomed all participants on behalf of the Chairman Party and noted Georgia's role in the development of the TRACECA corridor and active involvement in pilot initiatives and projects implemented within the framework of TRACECA.

In accordance with the Agenda, the TRACECA National Secretaries considered information on the implementation of the Final Resolutions of the IGC TRACECA in the period of 2013-2023, the results of evaluating road checkpoints, Recommendations on minimum requirements for the equipment of checkpoints, Review of the use of semi-trailers as separate transport units in multimodal transport, etc.

Following a detailed discussion, the Parties conceptually agreed on the draft Rules of Operation of the TRACECA Fund to be submitted for consideration at the Seventeenth Annual Meeting of the IGC TRACECA. 

The meeting participants decided to consider the Main Provisions of the TRACECA Business Council in a separate meeting to finalize the text of the document.

The meeting participants also considered and discussed the draft Decision on making amendments to the Technical Document “TRACECA Multilateral Permit” User Guide".  

Under item 8 of the Agenda, the Parties approved the draft budget of the PS IGC TRACECA for 2025, and also decided to complete work on the draft Decision on making additions to the Rules for Formation and Execution of the PS Budget.

It should be noted that the participants of the meeting reviewed and discussed the proposal of the Türkiye Party to the Agenda – on the TRACECA Reform Initiative. The Parties agreed to consider this issue within the framework of specific proposals.

Upon completion, the Secretary General, Mr. A.A. Assavbayev, presented the TRACECA medal to the National Secretary of the Republic of Türkiye, Mr. Burak Aykan. In addition, a memorable souvenir and a letter of appreciation were presented to the National Secretary of Georgia, Mr. Guram Guramishvili for his contribution to the development of TRACECA within the framework of Georgia's Chairmanship in the IGC.

In general, agreements were reached on all issues on the Agenda, which are formalized by the relevant Final Recommendations.

 

For reference:

- Since February 10, 2023, Georgia has been the Chairman Party in the IGC TRACECA.

- TRACECA includes the transport system of 14 participating countries united by the idea of developing the international transport corridor Europe-the Caucasus-Asia.
