LOGMOS Final Event

On 2^nd April 2014, the LOGMOS team organised project’s final event dedicated to the endorsement of the LOGMOS TRACECA Master Plan on the technical level. The event took place in Tbilisi.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the European Commission and EU Delegation to Georgia, beneficiaries represented by officials from ministries of transport and other responsible authorities, PS IGC TRACECA and National Secretaries, as well as experts of the LOGMOS and IDEA II projects.

Following the preceding consultation phase, the project team presented the Master Plan for discussion and technical endorsement by beneficiaries and stakeholders. A decision was made to propose the Master Plan for inclusion in the agenda of the IGC with the purpose of its political endorsement. Participants were invited to talk about further support for the implementation of the Master Plan.

The first session of the meeting discussed high-level recommendations for the development of MoS and Logistics Dimensions of the TRACECA corridor. These high-level recommendations concern each Master Plan layer, i.e. legal and institutional, infrastructure network, as well as market and operations. The recommendations basically target the issues to be addressed at the high level for ensuring corridor integrity and attractiveness. In doing so, they are built around such topics as the enhancement of interstate cooperation, transparency of applied regulatory basis and market settings, closer involvement of the private sector, application of best international practices, and capacity building for sectoral organisations and actors.

Furthermore, high-level recommendations for TRACECA institutions were presented for discussion. This part was heavily focused on the role of TRACECA institutions in promoting the implementation of the Master Plan.   

During the second session, the project team presented a proposed Road Map for the implementation of the Master Plan, possibilities of application of this road map in the countries, and general perspectives of the LOGMOS initiatives.

IDEA II project also made a presentation focusing on TRACECA expert groups, communication and visibility, prioritization and Transport Investment Forum.

The meeting was held in an interactive manner, and participants were encouraged to actively participate in the discussions. The event was concluded by adoption of the final resolutions on the technical endorsement of the Master Plan.
