Azerbaijan Railways

• Based on the Agreement signed on June 14, 2017 between Azerbaijan and Islamic Republic of Iran Railways on the construction of a 1.4 km railway in Iran, as well as on the construction and operation of a 35-hectare loading and unloading terminal in Astara (Iran), Azerbaijan Railways CJSC agreed to lease a 1.4 km railway line for a period of 15 years and a terminal for a period of 25 years.   
        
Relevant work has been carried out on the development of the international North-South transport corridor. In February of this year, the Iranian Party completed the construction of the Qazvin-Rasht Railway section. Meeting of the Working Group established to finance the construction of the railway Rasht-Astara on credit, which is allocated by the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan under the relevant Framework Agreement for coordination of work of railways of Azerbaijan and Iran, and are currently under discussion for approval of final loan agreement.

Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway
•    Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway in October 2017 (5 million tons of cargo, 1 million passengers)
•    Length of 826 km
•    Features: currently, this is a route that mainly covers the organization of container transport.
•    Destinations: Turkey-Central Asia and vice versa, Russia-Turkey-Europe, XI'an-Prague
•    In 2017-2019, 5,632 containers and 20 wagons were transported.

On the railway
Reconstruction of the Baku-Boyuk Kesik railway continues.
The Yalama-Astara railway is being reconstructed, a bridge over Astarachay is being built, and terminal complexes are being created.
