Working consultations were held on finalizing the draft Memorandum of the PS IGC TRACECA with the International Association of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR)

07.02.2020

According to the results and decision of the 14th Meeting of the IGC TRACECA, on December 6, 2019, in Baku (Azerbaijan), on February 6-7, 2020, in Nur-Sultan, the Republic of Kazakhstan, a working meeting of Mr. Asset Assavbayev, Secretary General of the IGC TRACECA, Mr. Rakhmetolla Kudaibergenov, Secretary General of the IA TITR, and Mr. Rustan Jenalinov, the National Secretary of the IGC TRACECA in Kazakhstan, was held.

It should be mentioned that negotiations between the Permanent Secretariat and the TITR office regarding the draft Memorandum continued during 2018 and in early 2019.

Taking into consideration the negotiation process and the need to jointly finalize the draft Memorandum of Cooperation with TITR, on December 6, 2019 this issue was included in the agenda of the 14th annual Meeting of the IGC TRACECA in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The TRACECA Secretary General emphasized that the Permanent Secretariat sent a letter to the TRACECA countries in order to discuss the finalized draft Memorandum of Cooperation.

During the discussions, the parties exchanged views regarding the organization of the passage of a container block train on the route XI'an (China) – Prague (Czech Republic), that in itself is an important event in the history of the TRACECA corridor from the point of view of a block train sending from China to the EU.

It should be noted that the main activities of the Association are the development of integrated logistics services and cargo transportation in container trains and wagon-load consignments, the creation of a unified technology for organizing transportation, and the use of competitive tariffs along the whole route chain.

In this regard, the potential of the transport infrastructure in the TRACECA corridor allows us to meet all the possibilities of goods transportation in the East-West direction. As the inter-regional EU program launched in 1993, TRACECA aims to implement the efficiency of international transportation on the routes of the TRACECA international transport corridor, including the Trans-Caspian route, at a higher quality and higher level.

TITR is an initiative of transport and logistics companies from China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey with the objective of goods transportation from China to Europe.
