Transport projects, areas of activity and opportunities for future cooperation are the main topics of discussion with Mr. Rashad Nabiyev, Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan

On June 21, 2021, during the meeting of Mr. Asset Assavbayev, Secretary General of the PS IGC TRACECA and Mr. Rufat Bayramov, National Secretary of the IGC TRACECA in Azerbaijan with Mr. Rashad Nabiyev, Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, an exchange of views on key issues of TRACECA corridor development, implementation of priority plans, provided for in the Strategy until 2026 and the Action Plan for 2018-2021 was held.

The participants of the meeting discussed the current state of cooperation within TRACECA, priority projects and key initiatives to improve the competitiveness of the transport corridor, transport and logistics issues, as well as prospects for further development.

Minister Rashad Nabiyev noted that the cooperation platform, established in 1998 with the active support of the Republic of Azerbaijan, is of great importance for the country and the Ministry intends to continue cooperation with the Permanent Secretariat.

In his turn, the Secretary General briefly informed about the phased steps for the implementation of the Agreement on a Single Transit Permit (STP), Concept for the Development of Container Transport up to 2030 and issues of digitalization, cooperation with the EU and others.

Minister Nabiyev expressed readiness to cooperate on the digitization of the corridor, development of multimodal transport, efficiency of container transport, attracting additional cargo flows to the corridor, unification of tariffs, maritime navigation, etc.

During the meeting, the discussions also touched upon the issue of tariffs for ship calls at seaports and for transportation on the Caspian Sea.

Deepening of integration between railway and maritime administrations on the example of international alliances, which will allow to quickly manage the transportation process, that meets the current needs of the container transport market is among the main points of discussion on the Agenda.
On the outcomes of the meeting, the participants agreed to continue active cooperation in the implementation of initiatives and further development of the TRACECA corridor.

Azerbaijan has been held the chairmanship of the IGC TRACECA since December 6, 2019 in Baku.
