TRACECA supports platforms aimed at further development of the routes of the Europe-Caucasus-Asia corridor

On October 04-06, 2023, "New Silk Way" VI International Transport and Logistics Business Forum is being held in Astana (Republic of Kazakhstan) with the support and in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, JSC "NC "KTZ" and the Union of Transport Workers of Kazakhstan "KAZLOGISTICS" and other partners.

The event is conducted in the framework of the Transport Week of Kazakhstan, within which the opening of the 26th International Exhibition "TransLogistica Kazakhstan 2023" took place at the site of the International Exhibition Center "EXPO".

The Forum brought together representatives of government agencies, transport and logistics companies, business associations, international organizations of Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan and other countries and stakeholders of the region, thereby providing an opportunity to exchange views and experience on the development of international cooperation in the field of transport and logistics, as well as multimodal transport.

Minister of Transport and the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Marat Karabayev and Chairman of the Presidium of the NCE of the RK “Atameken”, Mr. Raimbek Batalov addressed to the participants of the Forum with a welcoming speech.

Within the framework of the Forum sessions, special attention was also paid to the main trends of multimodal transport, challenges and prospects of the Middle Corridor, development of freight and passenger, sea transportation, and etc.

Session 1, organized jointly with the PS IGC TRACECA, was moderated by the Secretary General of the PS IGC TRACECA, Mr. Asset Assavbayev. The speakers of this session – representatives of the EU in Kazakhstan, Nurminen Logistics PLC (Finland), DB Cargo Eurasia (Germany), Global Digital Trade Corridor, GLS LLC, TITR, KTZ Express and Chinese Railways made presentations and shared their opinions on the priority measures necessary for the further development of the Middle Corridor.

During this session, the speakers discussed developments in the Middle Corridor, considering the rapidly changing geopolitical situation in the region and the growing pressure of sanction regimes, and also focused their speeches on the importance of determining competitive tariffs, effectiveness of attracting cargo flows to the Middle Corridor by existing market players, as well as the expected effect of countries improving the infrastructure of the corridor.

In addition, B2B and B2G meetings were held within the framework of the Forum, aimed at expanding relations and establishing contacts between representatives of both business and government structures.
