TRACECA shares experience with all stakeholders and its partners

On 17 January 2018, Mr. Ciopraga, TRACECA Secretary General received Mr. Geert Smit and Mr. Michiel Modiejefsky, representatives of Ecorys (Netherlands) company within their official visit to Baku and start-up of the EU-funded project with the Port of Baku.

Being one of the oldest research and consulting companies in Europe, Ecorys is an international company providing research, consultancy and management services, specialized in economic, social and spatial development. 

Within the meeting, Mr. Ciopraga and Mr. Smit had discussion on benchmark study on governance of transport corridors for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), in which TRACECA was included as a case study.

As a Project Manager of this study, Mr. Smit mentioned that in view of long period of TRACECA existence, its experience in governance is quite valuable for main directions in the study -  legal and institutional framework, harmonization of national regulations, standards and procedures, infrastructure network, market and operation, capacity building. 

During discussion on the assessment of transport governance level, Mr. Ciopraga shared with Mr. Smit relevant comments and amendments for the case study.  

Driving forces in the establishment of the corridors, priority plans and achievements made within TRACECA, EU support, support of TRACECA member-states and partners of TRACECA Corridor as well as their status nowadays, investment environment and the impact of the relations between actors of transport processes on the region were in the focus of exchange of opinions.

At the same time, Mr. Ciopraga stressed that TRACECA had a very good experience of information exchange with COMCEC (Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation) as successful start of initial steps of mutual collaboration in 2017. 

Mr. Smit and Mr. Modiejefsky mentioned that they have 2 key experts in Baku to continue its work for EU-funded project with the Port of Baku and expressed its interest for successful cooperation with TRACECA.
