TRACECA participated in the VII International Transport and Logistics Business Forum "New Silk Way" as part of Kazakhstan Transport Week

From September 30 to October 2, 2025, Kazakhstan Transport Week was held in Almaty, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the key event of which was the 28th Kazakhstan International Exhibition "Transport and Logistics" (TransLogistica Kazakhstan 2025).

The event was attended by ministers and experts of the transport and logistics industry from more than 20 countries, including Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Turkmenistan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan and other countries.

The main topics of the panel sessions at the event were strengthening regional cooperation and integration, the development of multimodal transport, digitalisation of logistics, the transformation of professional competencies in transport logistics, artificial intelligence in global transport systems, and other related issues.

During the Forum, in a teleconference mode, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, H.E. Mr. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev launched the second line on the Dostyk-Mointy railway section, an important infrastructure project of the Republic of Kazakhstan designed to significantly expand the country's transit potential and reduce cargo delivery times.

Speaking at the Panel session on "Digitalization and Multimodal Transportation as drivers of International Trade Development," Secretary General of the PS IGC TRACECA, Mr. Assavbayev, noted "the importance of avoiding fragmentation of digital solutions and the need to unify requirements and procedures along the entire TRACECA corridor."

Mr. A. Assavbayev also spoke about the steps being implemented within TRACECA in this direction: the adoption of the TRACECA Digital Concept, the work of a specialised working group, the successful implementation of pilot projects of e-CIM/SMGS consignment note in close cooperation with OSJD, UIC and CIT, the development of the Agreement between railway operators on electronic data exchange and use of e-CIM/SMGS consignment notes, as well as the Agreement on the application of electronic documents aimed at harmonizing the cross-border electronic exchange of customs and transport data.

During the exhibition, the Secretary General held a number of meetings with senior representatives of the MLA member countries, during which the status of current TRACECA initiatives and projects was discussed.

Kazakhstan Transport Week provided a favourable platform for exchanging experiences and best practices, as well as strengthening the transport dialogue in the region.
