TRACECA participated in the Seminar on the preliminary findings of the Study on Sustainable Transport Connections between Europe and Central Asia held in Brussels on September 30, 2022

The Seminar, organized by the EBRD and the European Commission brought together experts and representatives of key stakeholders in Europe, including TRACECA representatives, EU Member States, missions of relevant third countries, IFIs, business associations, private sector and etc.

According to the Agenda, the participants reviewed the initial findings of the above mentioned Study, the core aim of which is to identify the most sustainable transport connections between the Central Asian states and the extended Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), as well as discussed EU-Central Asia Sustainable Transport Connections for Wider Eurasian Connectivity.
 
It is expected that findings of the Study contribute to transparency and prioritisation in terms of transport infrastructure planning and development in the Central Asian region and help to identify investment opportunities for stakeholders, including the IFIs and the private sector.
 
During the event, the Secretary General of the PS IGC TRACECA, Mr. Asset Assavbayev shared plans for the implementation of international initiatives, aimed at development of international transport corridor Europe-the Caucasus-Asia, particularly on increasing the attractiveness of the corridor routes, and the competitiveness of transportation.

Within the framework of 2 sessions, participants exchanged their experience and knowledge on the current situation of transport networks in the region, progress and challenges in achieving sustainable transport connectivity.

Study on Sustainable Transport Connections between Europe and Central Asia is led and funded by the European Commission and conducted by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) over a period of one year (12 months). Results are expected by May 2023.
