TRACECA participated in the international conference on the theme "North-South” and “East-West” transport corridors - the basis of mutual communication and joint cooperation"

The main purpose of the meeting was the exchange of experience on the role of transport corridors in the socio-economic development of the Eurasian region, the implementation of transport projects between the SCO member countries and other countries within the “North-South” and “East-West” corridors.

Rahman Hummatov, Deputy Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, speaking at the meeting with a welcoming speech, spoke about the participation of the Republic of Azerbaijan in projects implemented to develop regional cooperation in the field of transport, the country's formation into a transport and transit hub of the region and efforts to develop sustainable corridors in the region.
 
The speakers made presentations on possible regional and international cooperation, ensuring a sustainable transport connection in the region, and also heard the statements from countries representatives regarding the development of international transport corridors.
 
“The SCO and TRACECA countries form a wide geography of transportation on the Eurasian continent. At the same time, the TRACECA countries are the basis of transportation in the North-South and East-West directions,” said the TRACECA Secretary General, Asset Assavbayev.

During his speech, the Secretary General of the PS IGC TRACECA, Asset Assavbayev, highlighted the main initiatives aimed at developing container transport, digitalization, improving border crossing procedures, introducing electronic documents, and increasing the efficiency of maritime transport. Particular attention was paid to initiatives aimed at the development of the corridor, the main goal of which is to simplify the procedures of movement of goods and border crossings, the maximum reduction in time and financial costs in the performance of multimodal transport.
 
“I hope that the TRACECA initiatives will contribute significantly to the further development of transport. In this context, the Permanent Secretariat expresses its willingness to cooperate in order to ensure greater and more efficient connectivity of the regions”, added the TRACECA Secretary General at the end of his speech.
