TRACECA countries strengthen dialogue in order to implement initiatives for the development of the corridor

The agenda of the meeting included an exchange of views of the TRACECA MLA member-states on a number of issues, particularly, on the Methodology for the generation of statistical data along the routes of the TRACECA corridor, the establishment and rules of operation of the TRACECA Fund and others.
 
Within the opening of the meeting, TRACECA Secretary General, Mr. Assavbayev A.A. made a welcoming speech and briefly informed about the status of the work carried out in the main areas of activity.

Given the comments received, which do not have conceptual and fundamental changes in the provisions of the documents, the countries expressed support for TRACECA initiatives and recommended that the documents be submitted to the next meeting of the IGC TRACECA.

The meeting participants approved the amendments to the two reviews devoted to "Multimodal transport legal framework - international approach and relevant application in TRACECA countries" and on the measures taken to promote multimodal transport between Asia and Europe.
 
A special topic of the meeting was the initiative to establish and operate the TRACECA Fund. In order to further implement investment transport projects, the approval of this initiative is of crucial importance.
 
Representatives of the countries and participants of the meeting agreed on holding additional discussions on the advantages, administrative structure, sources of financing of the Fund with the mandatory participation of representatives of Azerbaijan, Iran, Türkiye and Uzbekistan before submitting the draft to the IGC. The format of the meeting will be determined additionally.

Following the approval by the TRACECA countries, the final draft documents will be submitted for approval at the Sixteenth Annual meeting of the IGC TRACECA.

The outcomes of discussions and the agreements reached at the meeting will be sent to the TRACECA MLA member-states in the format of Final Recommendations.

The Chairmanship in the Intergovernmental Commission TRACECA will be transferred in the order of rotation within the framework of the upcoming Sixteenth Annual Meeting of the IGC.

According to the Georgian side, the next Sixteenth Meeting of the IGC is scheduled for February 9-10, 2023.
