The National Secretariat of the IGC TRACECA in the Republic of Uzbekistan will make an assistance in promoting TRACECA initiatives in the country

On December 5, 2022, discussions were held between the Secretary General of the PS IGC TRACECA Mr. Assavbayev A.A. with the Head of the Department of the Ministry of Investments and Trade, Mr. Khashimov A.S. and the newly appointed National Secretary of TRACECA in the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr. Beknazarov S.S.

The Sides exchanged views on the current activities of the TRACECA countries for the development of the corridor. The need to intensify the participation of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the development and implementation of initiatives and projects of the Permanent Secretariat was pointed out.
 
Along with this, the Agenda of the meeting included discussions on piloting digital solutions (eCMR), collecting statistical data on cargo volumes, transit traffic, and other thematic issues.

The Sides noted the feasibility of countries in the region to coordinate their actions regarding the volume of cargo flows at checkpoints, considering their capacity.
 
The meeting participants also touched upon the issue of Uzbekistan's accession to a number of TRACECA documents. Namely, to the Agreement on Joint Financing of the PS IGC TRACECA between the Governments of the Parties to the MLA and the TRACECA Multilateral Permits System. The successful outcome of negotiations on these items at the government level will expand opportunities not only in Uzbekistan, but also ensure the effective development of transport communications throughout the corridor.
 
Among the initiatives requiring special focus in the implementation process and noted during the meeting, the Secretary General emphasized the digitalization of the TRACECA corridor, containerization, improvement of border crossing procedures, and the use of an integrated border control system.

During the discussions on the position of the Uzbek Party on Turkmenistan's accession to the MLA TRACECA, the National Secretary previously expressed a positive approach, which will also be formalized via diplomatic channels.
 
On the outcomes of the meeting, the National Secretary assured that he would make every effort to strengthen cooperation within the framework of TRACECA activities and for the benefit of the development of transportation throughout the region.
