“The main goal of TRACECA is the harmonization of the legislation and rules of the countries, as well as the creation of conditions for the transport of goods along the corridor”

15.03.2022

This was stated on 11 March 2022 by the Secretary General of TRACECA, Assavbayev A.A. during a business meeting dedicated to cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Azerbaijan in the issues of trade, economic, energy, transit, transport and logistics spheres, taking into account current global trends.

The meeting was attended by the General Director of “Port Kuryk” LLP Serik Akhmetov, management of the Baku International Sea Trade Port, General Director of the Trading House of Kazakhstan in Azerbaijan Rufat Rzayev, representatives of the public sector, business circles and national companies of the two countries.

During the welcoming speech, H.E. Serzhan Abdykarimov, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan noted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, in which bilateral and multilateral cooperation has acquired a multifaceted character, particularly, in trade, economic, energy, transit, transport and other areas.

Outlining the main areas of activity, the Secretary General, in turn, noted that the TRACECA corridor, being a link, has all the possibilities for transporting goods both to the EU countries and to China. Thus, the activities of the Permanent Secretariat are focused on the initiatives aimed at the development of transport and the facilitation of border crossing procedures.

Particular emphasis was placed on maritime transport between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, as they play an important role both in deepening bilateral cooperation and facilitating the transportation process in the region.

“TRACECA corridor have unrealized potential and a developed infrastructure. TRACECA countries have significant investments in the development of roads and railways, seaports and shipping companies. At the same time, the capacities re limited, and therefore countries need to coordinate their actions in transport organization on the routes of the corridor”, A. Assavbayev emphasized.

Here it is appropriate to note the planned road show with the participation of road carriers from the countries of Central Asia and visits to the seaports of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Kazakhstan, A. Assavbayev added.
