Strengthening the transport dialogue and realizing the logistics potential, taking into account contemporary context of development
On 20-22 September 2022, as part of the transport week of Kazakhstan, Almaty hosts the V International Transport and Logistics Business Forum "NEW SILK WAY", as well as the Kazakhstan International Exhibition "Transport and Logistics”.
The Forum, organized in a hybrid format, brought together about 350 delegates from 14 countries, including heads of sectoral ministries, representatives of the business community, as well as the largest representatives of the transport and logistics market from CIS and other countries.
The purpose of the Forum is to discuss new opportunities in the field of transport and logistics, development of transport and logistics potential under current conditions and their adaptation to new realities, international road transport, maritime and rail logistics, as well as civil aviation.
During the Agenda of the Forum, a strategic session was organized on the subject “Transport and Logistics - New Opportunities”, where the Secretary General of TRACECA, Mr A. Assavbaev spoke. Summing up his report, Mr A. Assavbaev drew the attention of the Forum participants to “the need for joint work in the field of implementation of unified electronic transport documents, digitalization of transportation processes and procedures, as well as the development of multimodal transportation with a high level of involvement and stimulation from the state”.
Moreover, within the framework of this session, the Vice-Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Almaz Idyrysov, spoke, noting that in modern geopolitical conditions Kazakhstan is an important land corridor between Asia and Europe. “The country has an extensive system of transport communication. We are connected to all major international transport corridors. In order to develop transport corridors and ensure transport connectivity, we need to continue working on the formation of profitable routes for our countries,” the Vice-Minister emphasized.
The International Transport and Logistics Business Forum included several panel sessions, one of which dedicated to the topic “Development of transport and logistics potential, taking into account contemporary conditions” was moderated by the TRACECA Secretary General A. Assavbaev.
This session covered the discussions of the speakers on various presentations, the participants heard the opinions and vision of the speakers on the development of transportation, attracting freight traffic and improving services. The speakers noted the opportunities in the development of international transportation against the backdrop of changes in the macroeconomics, the need to find new routes and build new supply chains, the role of private cargo carriers in the development of the transport and logistics complex of the countries of the region, and other issues.
Within the framework of the International Transport and Logistics Business Forum, the Kazakhstan International Exhibition "Transport and Logistics" was also held.
