Strategic role of Turkmenistan in TRACECA region
On 13 November 2017 during the official visit to Turkmenistan, Mr. Ciopraga had a meeting with Mr. Maksat Aydogdyyev, Minister of Motor Transport of Turkmenistan.
During the discussion, Mr. Maksat Aydogdyyev and Mr. Mircea Ciopraga pointed out strategic role of Turkmenistan in the region, development of the transport network in whole and participation in mutually beneficial projects with the view of ensuring economic independence of the country as one of the priority strategy viewpoints of Turkmenistan.
Mr. Aydogdyyev and Mr. Ciopraga dwelled upon the issues of TRACECA current activities, including the development of international road and railway transport within TRACECA aims and objectives and the future plans.
Mr. Ciopraga, Secretary General of TRACECA pointed out that Turkmenistan situated at the road junction of main commercial-transport routes of the Eurasian region. Besides, Turkmenistan makes a considerable contribution to the development of mutually advantageous economic ties between countries and regions, as well as – to the intensification of freight and passenger transit flows.
Turkmenistan has a strategic location for the development of its own transport communications and increase of traffic flows along the TRACECA corridor.
Strengthening of partner relations and activity between Turkmenistan and TRACECA will make it possible to more efficiently realize great economic potential and give an additional impetus to further development of the transport sector of the whole region.
