Protocols signed in Bucharest envisage deepening of cooperation between ports of Romania and Georgia

On November 24, 2011 the Protocols of Cooperation in the Range of Maritime Transport and Port infrastructure were signed between National Company Maritime Ports administration SA Constanta, Romania and Georgian ports: Poti Sea Port corporation (APM Terminals Poti) and Batumi Sea Port.

Protocols envisage deepening of cooperation between Parties in the following directions: transport of containerized cargo, transport of general cargo, Ro/Ro transport, passenger transport, strategic planning of port development, sharing of best practices, exchange of experts, development of projects in cooperation with external stakeholders and etc.

Under the Protocol, Parties also undertake to support the initiatives of any service operator pertaining to the establishment of line services between the two ports.

Signing of Protocol represents big step forward towards enhancing maritime cooperation in the Black Sea region.
