Pakistan raised the issue of accession to TRACECA

The purpose of a meeting consisted in introduction and discussion of the priority issues of TRACECA in increasing of competitiveness of the TRACECA Corridor.

At the meeting the Parties discussed trade and economic situation in the region and the issues of a cargo transportation along the TRACECA Corridor.

In view of the new aim on the transformation TRACECA into international organization, H.E. Mr. Qaiser expressed his positive opinion to Mr. Ciopraga regarding this initiative.

Within the framework of the further institutional development of TRACECA and latest developments of Pakistan Islamic Republic in transport field, Mr. Qaiser expressed his interest and hope to possibly resume negotiations on the accession of Pakistan to the MLA TRACECA.
Discussions on this issue are to be continued.

In addition, during the meeting it was mentioned that Pakistan intends to develop railway communication with China, Iran and Turkey for increasing its goods turnover.
