On September 7, 2022, a meeting was held between the Secretary General of the PS IGC TRACECA, Mr. Asset Assavbayev and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mexico to the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Mr. Rodrigo Labardini

The Secretary General noted the key directions and initiatives for the development of the ITC TRACECA aimed at containerization, introduction of electronic transport documents, simplification of border crossing procedures, determination of competitive tariffs and preferential conditions, harmonization of legislation, etc.
    
During the meeting, special attention was paid to the current development and further improvement of regional transport routes, in particular, infrastructure of the countries of the region and opportunities for increasing the volume of goods transported along them.

In its turn, this will ensure the uninterrupted movement of goods and passengers, increase the competitiveness and attractiveness of national transport systems in terms of reliability and efficiency, and the national economy of the member countries as a whole.

The participants of the discussions also noted that railways play a key role in international transport corridors. Due to the speed and reliability of deliveries, rail transportation becomes a competitor for both sea transportation (speed advantage) and air transportation (cost advantage), dragging cargo flows to continental routes.

The sides also exchanged views on the processes taking place in the region and issues of mutual interest.

Ambassador of Mexico H.E. Mr. Labardini expressed gratitude to Mr. A. Assavbayev for TRACECA's willingness to share initiatives and a productive meeting.
