On May 7, 2021, a meeting between Mr. Asset Assavbayev, Secretary General of the PS IGC TRACECA and H. E. Mr. Nikolaos Piperigos, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hellenic Republic to the Republic of Azerbaijan was held

The main topic of the meeting was the strengthening of cooperation with the Embassy of Greece in joint efforts and activities for the implementation of priority tasks for the development of the international transport corridor TRACECA.

During the discussions on the latest developments and prospects in TRACECA, an exchange of views took place on issues and integration prospects that are strategically important for Europe-the Caucasus-Asia region, including the Black and Caspian Sea basin.  

Significant attention is given to the issue of digitalization in transport within the corridor, which will become a clear example of the transport efficiency along the TRACECA routes.

During the meeting, the main directions for the implementation of TRACECA initiatives aimed at improving border crossing procedures, harmonizing the requirements for road vehicles with regard to their mass and dimensions, developing container transport, determining competitive tariffs and preferential conditions were also pointed out.
    
During the discussion, special attention was paid to the issue of the Agreement on a Single Transit Permit of TRACECA, aimed at increasing the competitiveness of the corridor and attracting additional transit
cargo flows by simplifying the procedures for obtaining and reducing the number of necessary permits for transit transportations. Taking into consideration the role of road transport in the TRACECA countries, the new Agreement will create a favourable and competitive conditions for transport.
 
The participants of the meeting stressed the importance of cooperation between the Embassies of the TRACECA MLA member states accredited and involved in TRACECA activities in Azerbaijan and the Permanent Secretariat located in Baku.
