On July 18-19, 2022, TRACECA took part in the International Conference on the topic of “International transport and transit corridors: interconnection and development” in Ashgabat via videoconferencing

The two-day Conference organized by the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan in cooperation with the company "Turkmen Forum" was held in a hybrid format.

The purpose of the forum is to discuss topical issues on the post–pandemic recovery of international transportation and its adaptation to new realities, further development of efficient transport and transit corridors, as well as strengthening cooperation between state structures of Turkmenistan, international organizations and large logistics companies.

The main Agenda of the Forum covered discussions on digitalization of the transport and communication complex, environmental aspects of sustainable transport, role of public–private partnership in the development of green infrastructure, role of science and education in the development of the transport and communication complex.

During the Agenda of the session, a segment dedicated to the topic "Digitalization of the transport and communication complex: a glance to the future" was organized, allocated for speakers of international structures and organizations, including TRACECA.

The representative of the PS IGC TRACECA noted the TRACECA main initiatives, and also shared information about the digitalization process within the framework of Europe-the Caucasus-Asia transport corridor. "Having studied the countries’ experience that occupy leading positions in the introduction of information technologies, we have prepared a Digital Concept of the International Transport Corridor TRACECA. The implementation of the provisions of the Digital Concept will create a regional digital system combining various modes of transport, accordingly forming an ecosystem of 13 countries of the corridor," Mr. B. Kussubayev, Head of the Policy Development and Monitoring Division noted.

Turkmenistan has been a long-standing partner of TRACECA, as well as a beneficiary of the TRACECA Programme since 1993.
