On February 28, 2020, there was held a meeting between Mr. Asset Assavbayev, Secretary General of the PS IGC TRACECA and Ms. Zoreana Mutac, Charge d'affaires of the Republic of Moldova in the Republic of Azerbaijan

During the discussions on the latest developments and prospects in TRACECA, an exchange of views on problematic and priority issues, strategic and integration prospects of the region was held with a view to further implementation of the principal tasks of the IGC TRACECA.

The TRACECA Secretary General also shared plans, initiatives, perspectives on the development of the international transport corridor potential, and steps taken to attract stakeholders and business community to discuss the real possibilities of the TRACECA corridor.

Active use of the opportunities of the Europe-the Caucasus-Asia corridor and its full potential, taking into consideration the already adopted TRACECA Programme documents, is one of the top priorities for 2020.

In particular, among the programme documents it is worth mentioning the Strategy of the IGC TRACECA for 2016-2026, the Action Plan for 2018-2021, the Plan of Actions for increase of competitiveness and attractiveness of TRACECA road routes and further development of international road traffic, and the Roadmap for development of international transport for the 5-year period.

At the same time, new initiatives such as the implementation of the electronic form of TRACECA permit, containerization of cargo within the corridor, implementation of the Technical Annex to the MLA on electronic document management system, digitalization of transport and technological process of the corridor would provide an obvious example of the effectiveness and viability of the TRACECA activities.

Within the framework of the Plan of Events of the PS IGC TRACECA for 2020 and official meetings of the Secretary General, much attention is given to the planned visit to the Republic of Moldova scheduled for the end of March-beginning of April this year, therefore any assistance from the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova will be highly appreciated by the Permanent Secretariat.

The participants of the meeting highlighted the significance of collaboration between the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova and the Permanent Secretariat within the framework of TRACECA activities and agreed on close mutually beneficial cooperation.
