On 29-30 March 2011, the Regional Working Group meeting on Road Safety within the Land Transport Safety and Security project was held in Chisinau, the Republic of Moldova

The purpose of this meeting was to develop a Regional Action Plan on Road Safety. The participants shared experiences on the implementation of measures aimed at reducing road accidents and ensuring the various components of land transport security. There was an analysis of the results of a questionnaire circulated by the project in Ukraine and Moldova.
Activities aimed at collecting information about accidents, objective identification of causes and detailed analysis of accidents, harmonization of legislation in the field of traffic safety, a common approach to road safety in the region and interaction with non-governmental organizations will be the basis for the Regional Plan.

This is the third similar meeting of the TRACECA countries within the framework of this project. The earlier meetings of regional working groups were held in Almata - on March 10-11, in Tbilisi – on March 24-25. The final meeting of the Working Group will be held in Brussels in May this year, within which preparation of the final version of the Regional Action Plan is expected. The final version of the Regional Action Plan will be submitted to the Intergovernmental Commission TRACECA.
