On 27 May 2010, TRACECA member states signed a protocol on elaboration of common competitive tariffs for railway and maritime shipments

In the framework of the recent High-Level meeting on TRACECA route competitiveness and trade facilitation on Thursday, 27 May 2010 in Antalya / Turkey, the working group of plenipotentiary representatives of transport departments, railway administrations, seaports, shipping and transport companies of TRACECA member states has signed a Protocol on elaboration of common competitive tariffs for railway and maritime shipments.In particular, the tariff rates on transit traffic on some categories of containerized freight through the ports of Batumi, Poti, Baku, Aktau, Turkmenbashi, Ilichevsk, Varna, Kerch, Odessa has been reduced from 01.06.2010 to 31.12.2010.

The implementation of the regulations of the Protocol will advance the attractiveness of the TRACECA Corridor and boost cargo volumes on its multimodal routes between Southeast Europe and Central Asia.

The signatory parties agreed to continue coordinating the tariff policy with the aim to further promote Corridor’s competitiveness.
