On 24 January 2018, upon official invitation of Mr. Ciopraga, TRACECA Secretary General, Mr. Serhan Aktoprak, Chief of IOM Mission in Azerbaijan visited Headquarter of the PS IGC TRACECA

Mr. Ciopraga and Mr. Aktoprak exchanged opinions on the necessity of ensuring sustainable development and effective improvement in every field of the region, particularly migration services, visa solutions, immigration and border management, movement programmes and etc.

Mr. Aktoprak shared some ideas with Mr. Ciopraga and activities provided by the International Organization for Migration, which promotes humane and rights-based approaches to migration and development and assists governments in facilitating and regulating migration issues.

Special focus within the subject of the meeting was made on the issue of beneficial cooperation between the PS IGC TRACECA and IOM taking into account that the majority of TRACECA member states are also members of IOM.

Among important issues during exchange of opinions regarding TRACECA activities, Mr. Ciopraga also touched the issues of the status of accession of Afghanistan to TRACECA as a full member, the signed Memorandum of Understanding between the PS IGC TRACECA and SRCIC supported by the Chinese Government and further extension of TRACECA borders, active cooperation with international, regional organizations, including UNOHRLLS, CAREC, Crans Montana Forum and efforts of the Permanent Secretariat to attract International Financial Institutions for funding infrastructure projects

On the outcomes of the meeting Mr. Aktoprak suggested to Mr. Ciopraga to make visit to the Headquarter of IOM in Azerbaijan.
