On 23 May 2017 Bucharest hosted the Meeting of the Permanent Representatives (National Secretaries) of the PS IGC TRACECA

The meeting was attended by the Permanent Representatives (National Secretaries) of the Permanent Secretariat of the (PS) IGC TRACECA in the MLA member-states, representatives of Senate, Parliament of Romania, Permanent Representative of Lithuania in the IGC TRACECA, representative of the European Investment Bank as well as Team of the Permanent Secretariat of the IGC TRACECA.

Participants of the Meeting of the TRACECA National Secretaries discussed a number of issues on the further development of the TRACECA international transport corridor.

Special attention was paid to the results of 2016 - the first year of the operation of TRACECA permit system for international road transport. It should be mentioned that Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, Romania, Turkey, Ukraine joined TRACECA Multilateral Permit System. In the current 2017 year, the use of TRACECA permits is expected to increase due to removal of restrictions on the points of entry through which the transportations are allowed with the use of these permits.

TRACECA participants discussed and determined the need for the Third TRACECA Investment Forum, which will take place along with the Thirteenth Meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission. Previous TRACECA Forums were held in 2010 and 2012. In the nearest future, countries will begin work on the definition of proposals for investment projects and technical assistance projects.

The National Secretaries of the Parties monitored the implementation of priority actions for the implementation of the activities of the TRACECA Regional Action Strategy on Maritime Safety and Security and Environmental Protection for the period up to 2021. Interim results of the Strategy implementation will be presented during the upcoming Thirteenth IGC meeting.

Also, the participants of the meeting discussed the program projects: Action Plan for the implementation of the IGC TRACECA Strategy on the development of the international transport corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia for 2016-2026, developed on the basis of the TRACECA Master-Plan and proposals of the Parties for 2017-2020 and Roadmap for the Development of International Transport along the Europe-Caucasus-Asia Corridor for 5-year period. The draft version of the updated TRACECA map is discussed. It is expected that the finalized map will be approved by the next Intergovernmental Commission and published after the meeting.

The meeting was held in a working, constructive atmosphere with the assistance of the National Secretariat of TRACECA in Romania.

The meeting of the PS IGC TRACECA developing drafts and decisions for the discussion of the Intergovernmental Commission of TRACECA, the representative body of the Basic Multilateral Agreement on International Transport for the Development of the Europe-Caucasus-Asia Corridor.
