On 23 February 2021, TRACECA participated in the 83rd annual session of the Inland Transport Committee (ITC) of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE)

During the session, a high-level segment on the topic of “Back to a sustainable future: achieving resilient connectivity for post-COVID-19 sustained recovery and economic growth”, reserved for speakers of international structures and organizations, including TRACECA was organized.

The annual session was enriched by the ITC Roundtable on “Road safety at a crossroads at the dawn of the new Decade of Action”, which brought together key stakeholders around the world for a strategic discussion of the new course of action needed to make measurable progress in successfully addressing the continuing crisis.

The participants of the meeting focused on a range of current issues, including the implementation of the UN international agreements and conventions in the field of inland transport, introduction of Intelligent Transport Systems and digital technologies, impact of climate change and the mitigation of adverse effect of the transport industry on the environment, simplification of border crossing procedures, development of intermodal transport, provision of technical assistance to countries with transitioning and developing economies, as well as ensuring the road safety.
