On 20-24 February 2017, Geneva, during the platform of the Ministerial Meeting of the UNECE, Mr. Ciopraga, TRACECA Secretary General met with H.E. Dr. Abbas Akhoundi, Minister of Road and Urban Development of Iran and had exchange of views

For the last 70 years the Inland Transport Committee (ITC) of the UNECE has been continuously working with governments, industry and policy makers. 

The main aim of this Committee is to promote sustainable transport which is safe, clean and competitive, through the development of freight and personal mobility by inland transport modes, by improving traffic safety, environmental performance, energy efficiency, inland transport security and efficient service provision in the transport sector.

Based on its partner relations, TRACECA actively involved in various meetings of the UNECE and support the initiatives aimed at the strengthening regional and interregional cooperation.

Within the Ministerial meeting, Mr. Ciopraga stressed that based on support of its member countries via various initiatives, further expansion of regional cooperation and optimal integration of the TRACECA transport corridor with the Trans-European Networks (TENs), TRACECA expanding their opportunities to have access to European and world markets.

Mr. Ciorpaga mentioned in his speech that all mutual efforts will make a constructive contribution to creation of high-quality, effective and reliable transport communication between Europe and Asia.
