On 1st February 2019, upon official invitation of Mr. Ciopraga, TRACECA Secretary General, Dr. Lazar Comanescu, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, has visited TRACECA Headquarter

In view of the new role of Romania within the Presidency in the EU Council, Dr. Comanescu and Mr. Ciopraga has exchange of opinions on the priorities of foreign policy in the economic sphere, including the implementation of the projects and initiatives of significant importance in the region. 

As it was mentioned, during the six months that Romania will hold the rotating presidency of the EU Council, tens of events covering all areas of EU policy will take place in Bucharest and throughout the whole country.

Mr. Ciopraga stressed that TRACECA has experience of holding Investment Forums. This Investment Forum offers wide opportunities for the development of a dialogue between TRACECA, international financial markets and transport operators, being an attractive platform for discussing topical issues relevant to a competitive regional transport system and presentation of priority projects.

The participants of the meeting were also interested in the status of development of the international transport corridor Europe-the Caucasus-Asia, the role of Romania as EU country and the member-country of TRACECA and investment opportunities of the whole region.

Mr. Ciopraga noted that nowadays, in view of the new role created by the opportunities along the international transport corridor TRACECA that connects regions of Europe and Asia, covering the Caucasus, the Permanent Secretariat make every effort to contribute and to support to the different mutually beneficial initiatives and ideas, regeneration of new interregional and infrastructure projects, including mechanism of holding Investment Forum. 

During discussion, the parties stressed that in view of the events within the Romanian Presidency in the Council of the European Union, there will be “Blue Invest 2019” in Constanta port on 22-23 of May 2019. Under the umbrella of this event, it is going to be organized the Third TRACECA Investment Forum as well.
