On 19th January 2017 H.E. Mr. Juris Maklakovs, Ambassador of Latvia to Azerbaijan paid a visit to TRACECA Headquarter in Baku

The main subject of the meeting between Mr. Ciorpaga, Secretary General of the PS IGC TRACECA and H.E. Mr. Juris Maklakovs, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Latvia to the Republic of Azerbaijan consisted in the discussion of TRACECA Road Map for the organization of freight transportation between the Baltic, Black and Caspian Seas in communication between the Europe-the Caucasus-Asia corridor and the Trans-European Transport Network as well as all involved actors of this transportation process.

Mr. Ciopraga briefly shared with H.E. Mr. Maklakovs that with the view of eliminating the existing problems arising in traffic within the Europe-the Caucasus-Asia region this Road Map has been initiative of Ukrainian side who is Chair in Office in the IGC TRACECA for 2016-2017 and presented to TRACECA member-countries within Working Group Meeting held on 21-22 November 2016 in Kiev.

H.E. Mr. Maklakovs also interested in the countries that has observer status in the IGC TRACECA. Mr. Ciopraga mentioned that Lithuania has an official observer status since 2009.

Within meeting, special importance in discussion was concentrated on the issues of the development of Multimodal Transport TRACECA. Mr. Ciopraga emphasized that the Agreement on the development of Multimodal Transport TRACECA is open for all Parties for accession.
