On 12 October 2016, there were held the National Working Group Meeting of Azerbaijan and web-conference on Multimodal Transport TRACECA
The web-conference has been organized by the Permanent Secretariat of the IGC TRACECA aimed at the development of a single multimodal transport document (bill of lading) along the international transport corridor (ITC) TRACECA.
The web conference was preceded by National Working Group Meeting of Azerbaijan, organized by Mr. Akif Mustafayev, the National Secretary of IGC TRACECA in Azerbaijan with invited representatives of related structures, namely the Baku International Sea Trade Port, Azerbaijan Railways, State Customs Committee, the Caspian Shipping Company, the Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan.
During discussion of the draft document, the majority of participants spoke for the expedience of using the CIM / SMGS consignment note (on railway transport) as the basic single multimodal transport document, in view of its elaboration at the next meetings.
At the same time, it was decided on further consideration and elaboration of single transport document as the CIM / SMGS and CMR (for international road transport) consignment note.
The representatives of the Georgian road transport spoke for the expedience of using the bill of lading FIATA as a single multimodal transport document marked "valid for transportation between the TRACECA countries."
On the outcomes of the web-conference, the participants have come to common opinion regarding official positions of the countries on using of basic document till 24 October 2016. The positions of Armenia, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan as participants of the Agreement on development of Multimodal Transport TRACECA are obligatory.
It should be mentioned, the Agreement on Development of Multimodal Transport TRACECA, was signed during the 7th Meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission TRACECA in Cholpon-Ata (Issyk-Kul, Kyrgyzstan) on 16 June 2009.
At the moment, the Republic of Kazakhstan and Ukraine officially stated on accession to the Agreement.
