After two days of intense consultations in the Headquarters of the PS IGC TRACECA in Baku on February 3-5, 2020 the agreement was reached with Intergovernmental Council of Road Administrators with its center in Moscow headed by Buri Karimov and International Center of Transport Diplomacy with its center in New York chaired by Igor Rounov to join efforts towards development of universal and fully digital multimodal transport document along TRACECA corridor.
Once implemented it will significantly reduce the travel time and administrative delays at border crossings along fast growing trade flows from China to EU across the Caucasus- the shortest route along the ancient Silk Road.
According to Mr. Asset Assavbayev, Secretary General of the PS IGC TRACECA, this new effort should contribute to the implementation of the Agreement on the Development of Multimodal Transport TRACECA, signed in IssykKul (Kyrgyzstan) in 2009 and would increase competitive advantages and transit potential of TRACECA member-states.
