Networking and cooperation dialogue between Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and TRACECA

Mr. Ciopraga and Mr. Liqun exchanged the opinions on possible ways of cooperation and discussed current status of TRACECA development and its Strategy.

During discussion with Mr. Liqun, Mr. Ciopraga added that during long period of time TRACECA had long-term cooperation with International Financial Institutions and their active involvement to TRACECA events and meetings. 

Within the meeting Mr. Ciopraga mentioned that at the moment TRACECA countries consider the projects for development of the corridor and further submission to Third TRACECA Investment Forum. 

As EU Programme, up to date within TRACECA the European Commission has financed 85 projects, to the total amount surpassing 178 million Euros. These projects promoted the attraction of large investments of International Financial Institutions. More than 40% of the budget was allocated to support and develop transport infrastructure of the corridor.

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is a new multilateral financial institution founded to bring countries together to address the infrastructure needs across Asia. In support of this objective, the Bank offers financing for sound and sustainable projects across the sectors transportation and telecommunications, energy and power, rural infrastructure and agriculture development, environmental protection, and urban development and logistics.
