Mr. Erdem Direkler, TRACECA National Secretary of Turkey and Mr. Ciopraga, TRACECA Secretary General discussed latest activities within the Presidency of Turkey in the IGC

Participants of the meeting exchanged opinions and underlined the necessity to take practical steps on the revival of the Silk Road with the view of implementing high transport technologies, organizing and improving multimodal transport.

Mr. Direkler and Mr. Ciopraga touched the issues of the recent visits to Brussels in view of the necessity of continuation of the technical assistance projects for beneficiary countries of TRACECA Programme. Mr. Direkler expressed his concerns on the lack of 

In addition, Mr. Ciopraga underlined the importance of the TRACECA Master Plan for 7-year period in all TRACECA region and corresponding EU support during the realization of the new technical assistance projects within its further implementation.

Discussion also touched the issue of the upcoming Twelve Meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) TRACECA in Odessa, Ukraine, to be held on 1 June 2016. Mr. Ciopraga mentioned that he expects Turkish high level officials and representatives of the National Secretariat due to the procedure of handing over the Presidency in IGC TRACECA to Ukraine.

Within the frames of the meeting Mr. Direkler stressed that as agreed Turkish side would like to hold PS meeting in Izmir and co-organise of PS meeting within Ukrainian Presidency.
