Kazakhstan is one of the active participants in the TRACECA corridor
In the period from 21 to 25 February an official visit of the Secretary General of the PS IGC TRACECA, Mr Asset Assavbayev to the Republic of Kazakhstan took place.
During the visit a number of meetings were held with the representatives and officials of sectoral structures, departments and agencies responsible for the formation of transport policy, implementation of projects and promotion of the initiatives in the region.
In particular, on 21 February 2022, during a meeting with the authorities of the ports of Aktau and Kuryk, the Maritime Port Authority of Kazakhstan and LLP “NMSC Kazmortransflot”, discussions touched upon the development of the container transportation process in the Caspian Sea and the possibility of unifying tariffs in seaports. The issues of the meeting also included the discussions on the possibility of establishing a regular feeder connection in the Black Sea region and holding a joint event after receiving the “EcoPorts” certificate of the Port Environmental Review System (PERS).
The program of the visit included discussions of promising areas of activity and the status of the implementation of priority TRACECA initiatives by the Kazakhstan Party in the framework of the meetings with representatives of the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, JSC “NC “KTZ” and the Association of Legal Entities "International Association" “Trans-Caspian International Transport Route".
The main focus was on the facilitation of border crossing procedures, the possibility of mutual recognition of the results of customs control at the borders, the prospects for the recognition of electronic signatures between the competent authorities, the completion of the procedures for approval of the Agreement on Single Transit Permit and the implementation of the TRACECA Digital Concept. In addition, an exchange of views took place on the issues of joining the Agreement on the development of Multimodal Transport TRACECA, piloting digital solutions, including eTIR, eCMR, GTrD, e-queue and other topics.
“Taking into account the experience of neighbouring states, the successful implementation of the TIR transport digitalization project will facilitate the transport process at all border crossing points of the TRACECA border countries. Moreover, Kazakhstan is a transit state and it is important for the country to create favourable conditions for the transportation of goods”, noted Secretary General Assavbaev A.A. during a meeting with the Representative of the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan.
Meanwhile, the issue of signing the Memorandum of Cooperation between the PS and the International Association "TITR" became one of the items on the Agenda of the meeting between the Secretaries General of TRACECA and TITR.
