UzbekistanGreece expressed its interest to TRACECA
On 5th July 2016, H.E. Mr. Dimitrios G. Tsoungas, Ambassador of Greece to the Republic of Azerbaijan pay a visit to the Headquarter of the PS IGC TRACECA and met with Mr. Mircea Ciopraga, Secretary General of the PS IGC TRACECA.
During the meeting Mr. Tsoungas expressed his intention on the possibility to grant Greece an observer status to the IGC TRACECA.
H.E. Mr. Tsoungas mentioned the importance of TRACECA programme for the Black Sea region, South Caucasus and Central Asia as well as for the neighboring areas in the context of fast global transport development.
Mr. Ciopraga exchanged views with H.E. Mr. Tsoungas on the recent activities of TRACECA and investment projects of the member-states of the MLA TRACECA as well as informed on the step-by-step procedure of granting observer status to the interested states and organizations.
In his turn, Mr. Tsoungas presented an official letter-request from Ministry of Infrastructure of Transport and Networks of the Hellenic Republic to the Permanent Secretariat of the IGC TRACECA to consider the possibility of involving to TRACECA activities as observer.
Discussions on this issue are to be continued.
