EU-TRACECA technical assistance projects are some of the types of development projects

On 7th April 2015 in the office of the coordination project "Transport Dialogue and Interoperability between the EU and neighboring countries as well as countries of Central Asia - 2» (IDEA II), Kiev, Ukraine the meeting was held between Mr. Mircea Ciopraga, Secretary General of the PS IGC TRACECA, and Mr. Detlef Pulsack, Team Leader of the project.

The main purpose of the meeting was the role, significance and the results of EU-TRACECA technical assistance and investment projects for TRACECA member-countries.

In particular, the discussion touched upon the issues of expert groups. Team Leader of the project informed that upon analysis of the Kiev meetings and looking back on experience of work with different countries IDEA produces a newsletter to ensure continuous visibility of the project. The Expert Groups will continue their work over the entire life cycle of IDEA, and will contribute to the implementation of the LOGMOS Master Plan.

IDEA jointly with experts of TRACECA countries will derive training needs from the groups and plan capacity – building activities in close relation to outcomes from respective assessments.

The TRAX methodology will function as benchmarking tool and is foundation for a peer-review among the TRACECA countries and the assessment of the attractiveness of TRACECA in comparison to other transport routes. The experience and results of the border-crossing panel of the EU shall be incorporated.

During the discussion Mr. Mircea Ciopraga, TRACECA Secretary General proposed to hold an expert group on road transport taking into account that the continuation of the expert groups on investment is not provided for.

Mr. Ciopraga assured that the Permanent Secretariat of the IGC TRACECA is ready to provide support at the expert level.

The meeting pointed the key issues on further launch of new and implementation of ongoing projects, taking into account the shortcomings of some components of completed projects.

In particular, continuation of work on transport modeling and operation of GIS database, Campus TRACECA and other activities.
