Discussion of initiatives and plans at the level of the National Secretaries of TRACECA countries

On 20 September 2022, the Meeting of the Permanent Representatives (National Secretaries) of the Permanent Secretariat of the IGC TRACECA was held via videoconference.

The agenda of the Meeting included an exchange of views among the MLA TRACECA member states on 12 issues, in particular, on the Evaluation of road checkpoints, the Map of the TRACECA routes, the Concept of the border crossing Hotline, the creation of the TRACECA Fund and other subjects.

At the beginning of the PS Meeting, Mr A.A. Assavbayev, TRACECA Secretary General addressed the participants with a greeting and briefly informed about the work carried out in the main areas of activity aimed at the implementation of the initiatives of the PS IGC TRACECA over the past few months since the last meeting of the Permanent Secretariat.

During the discussions of the Agenda, the TRACECA countries considered a number of draft documents that require detailed revision and final approval by all TRACECA countries, including the Overview " Multimodal transport legal framework - international approach and relevant application in TRACECA countries", Review of the measures taken to promote multimodal transport between Asia and Europe, the issue of accession of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the TRACECA Permits System, the Report on the realization of the Action Plan for 2018-2021 for implementation of the Strategy of the IGC TRACECA for development of the international transport corridor Europe- the Caucasus-Asia for 2016-2026.
 
A special subject of the Meeting was the initiative to create a TRACECA Fund, which also requires further development and restructuring. Promotion of this initiative is very important in the context of attracting financial resources to the countries of the ITC TRACECA and with a view to implement investment transport projects.

It should be noted that following the results of agreement by the TRACECA countries, the final draft documents will be submitted for approval during the upcoming meeting of the IGC.

In accordance with the rotation period of chairmen in the IGC, the Georgian Party announced that the next Sixteenth Meeting of the IGC is scheduled for February 2023, the exact date will be announced later.

The results of the discussions and reached agreements of the Meeting in the format of the Final Recommendations will be sent to the MLA TRACECA member states.

The Republic of Bulgaria assumed the Chairmanship of the Intergovernmental Commission TRACECA within the framework of the Fifteenth Meeting of the IGC TRACECA (21October 2021).
The participating countries in the Multilateral Permits System are Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, Turkey, Ukraine and Romania.
