26 September – 1 October 2011 – Final Study Tour within SASEPOL Project, port of Rotterdam and Fourth RWG Meeting in Brussels

The TRACECA Regional Action Strategy on Maritime Safety and Security and Environmental Protection was actively and fruitfully developed over the year of 2011.

The ten-year period of the Strategy is determined primarily by the fact that the realization of various actions will take certain time for detailed examination, research and taking relevant measures for their implementation. This first of all refers to the accession of the participating states to a number of Conventions. 

The proposed paper was developed on the basis of the relevant analysis in the Project participating states, preliminary (expert) proposals, and considered as a common structure for cooperation of the Black and Caspian Seas’ countries in the field of maritime transport, in particular, maritime safety and security, with a view of laying the foundation for further activities in the short-term outlook. 

Secretary General of the PS IGC TRACECA, Mr. Eduard Biriucov emphasized that the TRACECA member states should work consistently with a view to accede to principal international conventions in the field of sea perils prevention and ship pollution prevention as well as to meet the standards adopted by the Conventions under the aegis of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) 

Positive experience of Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, other EU states will enable the interested countries to solve jointly the envisaged measures, to focus on priority tasks, to attract investments for their implementation and application of science intensive technologies.

On the outcomes of the meeting within the SASEPOL Project there were adopted the Resolutions of the Fourth Meeting of the Regional Working Group. To download conclusions, click here
