The Government of Kyrgyzstan upholds the efforts of the IGC TRACECA and the European Union directed to the development of the International Transport Corridor Europe-the Caucasus-Asia

During the official visit to Kyrgyzstan on 20 September 2012 Mr. Eduard Biriucov, Secretary General of the PS IGC TRACECA, met with Mr. Zhantoro Satybaldiyev, Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan.

Mr. Biriucov congratulated Mr. Satybaldyev on the occasion of his recent nomination to the powerful public position of the Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Within the framework of discussions on the latest changes in TRACECA the sides exchanged views on the problem and priority issues, strategic and integration prospects of the region with the view of implementing the idea of future development of the Great Silk Road.

The Secretary General emphasized active involvement of all government structures of the MLA TRACECA Member States in the implementation of the aims and objectives of the Strategy for TRACECA development up to 2015, as well as further design of the IGC TRACECA Strategy for the period up to 2025, with one of the key roles to be played by the Kyrgyz Republic.

The Parties discussed one of the topical joint initiatives of the Permanent Secretariat of the IGC TRACECA and the International Road Transport Union (IRU) on the arrangement of the Anniversary IGC TRACECA Conference to be held in 2013, in Dushanbe, and the International Conference “Development of Transit Potential in Central Asia for the period up to 2020” with participation of prominent guests, official representatives of TRACECA countries and the European Commission, international organizations and business structures.

In this connection the Prime Minister assured the Secretary General that the Kyrgyz Party would support all initiatives aimed at further development of the International transport corridor Europe-the Caucasus-Asia, including the forthcoming chairmanship of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Intergovernmental Commission, as well as the Action Plan for 2013.

During the discussions Mr. Prime Minister expressed the interest of Kyrgyzstan in the accession of the TRACECA Programme beneficiary, Turkmenistan, to the TRACECA Basic Multilateral Agreement which presents the importance for the development of transport-transit potential of the region and simplification of transport communications and trade-economic relations between the countries.

Mr. Biriucov informed Mr. Satybaldiyev on the outcomes of his visit to Turkmenistan, the meeting with Mr. President, His Excellency Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov, actions required for enhancement of the participation of the country in the TRACECA activities as a full-fledged member of the MLA.
