Ukraine is an independent European state. It’s territory stretches from Zakarpattya to wide steppes of Don, from Polissya to the costs of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.
Total area of Ukraine is 603.7 thousand of square kilometers and at the same time the most part of it is situated on the South-West of East European plain.

Ukraine has common frontiers with: Byelorussia to the North (891 km), Russian Federation to the North-East and East (1789 km), Poland to the North-West (428 km), and the Slovak Republic to the West (90 km), Hungary (103 km), Romania (286 km) and Moldova (939 km) to the South-West.

Total length of its frontiers is – 4558 km.
Total length of sea frontiers with Bulgaria, Turkey, and Georgia makes up 1050 km.

The biggest rivers are: Dnipro, Siverskyi Donets, Pivdennyi Bug, Dnister, Danube.

Ukraine is attractive resort centre due to its mild climate, resorts, situated on the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov coasts, beautiful skiing resorts, as well as resorts with mineral springs in the Carpathian Mountains.

The capital of Ukraine is Kyiv.

The largest cities are: Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhya, Lviv.

The independence of Ukraine was declared on 24 of August 1991. This day is the national holiday – the Independence Day.

Ukraine is nuclear-free state, willing to live in chime cooperating with all countries of the world.

Ukraine is a multinational state. More than 110 nationalities live on its territory.

National language of Ukraine is Ukrainian. The constitution of Ukraine guarantees the rights of minorities for free national and cultural development.

More than 9.2 million people of 47-million population of Ukraine study in different higher educational institutions.
