On January 10-11, 2024, the official visit of the Secretary General of the PS IGC TRACECA, Mr. Assavbayev A.A. to the Republic of Kazakhstan took place

Within the framework of the visit the Secretary General held a number of meetings with the leadership of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan represented by the Minister, Mr. Karabayev M.К., Vice-Minister, Mr. Ablaliyev S., and Deputy Minister, Mr. Kaliakparov M.

According to the Agenda, constructive exchange of views took place, a number of priority issues, such as the development of multimodal transport, the concept of a vessel for operation in the Caspian Sea (technical task for designing a larger capacity vessel for cargo transportation), promotion of new institutions for the projects’ development, in particular the establishment of the Business Council, TRACECA Fund, etc. were discussed.
 
Within the framework of the meetings Mr. Assavbayev A.A. also presented the results of the activities carried out by the PS IGC TRACECA in 2023, emphasizing the successful implementation of initiatives from the practical point of view, particularly the implementation of pilot cargo transportation by semi-trailers, work on the application of e-CIM/SMGS consignment note, application of multilateral permits, etc.

Along with this, the issue of the soonest signing of the draft Agreement on a Single Transit Permit of TRACECA became one of the items on the Agenda.

Following the meetings, the Secretary General expressed his deep gratitude to the leadership of the Ministry for hospitality and constructive dialogue during the visit. He highlighted the importance of joint efforts for sustainable development of transport infrastructure in the region and confirmed the willingness of the PS IGC TRACECA to closely cooperate with the Republic of Kazakhstan in the implementation of common goals and objectives.
